ADFIL Fibrin XT Ultra  - Plastic Shrinkage / Settlement Cracking Control Fibre - 80g

Fibrin XT Ultra is part of a range of monofilament polypropylene fibres designed to reduce the occurrence of plastic shrinkage and plastic settlement cracking, whilst enhancing the surface properties and durability of concrete. The fibres are extremely fine, single filaments and comprise of blended lengths (6-18mm). The fibres are extremely fine and are not easily seen on the hardened surface. XT Ultra incorporates the usual high performance technical benefits you see with our current fibres, but with the unique benefit that the concretes workability is not affected. These fibres are specially designed to be used as an alternative to Air Entraining Agents. (AEA) and importantly, they have passed the required criteria by passing 56 cycles of freezing and thawing to PR EN 12390-9.  PLEASE NOTE:  These fibres are Monofilament Plastic and NOT Alkali-Resistant Glass Fibres.

Extra Benefit When Using Fibrin XT Ultra

Independent tests have shown that whilst providing all the above benefits, XT Ultra with its carefully selected fibre diameter and lengths, manages to improve the concretes durability properties whilst ensuring that no additional water is required to maintain the workability of the concrete. Mixing Directions:
Fibres should be added to concrete at a rate of 890g per cubic metre of concrete (or 0.89g per litre).

You’ll need to determine the capacity of your mixer in order to add the correct amount of fibres.  Some mixer manufacturers publish this information online.  If you are unable to find this info, the easiest way to measure your mixer is to fill it with water and then pour the water into a builder’s bucket of known capacity. 

Example: Let’s say you’ve measured your mixer and determined that it has a capacity of 90 litres.  Multiply 90  by 0.89 and you come up with a figure of 80.1 grams of fibres per mixer load.  If in doubt, give us a ring and we can help you work this out - please measure your mixer first!

Fibres should ideally be added to the mixer along with one third of the mixing water. After all the other ingredients have been added, including the remaining mixing water, the concrete should be mixed for a minimum of 70 revolutions at full speed to ensure uniform fibre dispersion. In the case of site mixing, a minimum of 70 drum revolutions is highly recommended.
